Volunteer Coordinator

Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator
Reports to: Operations Manager
Salary: $20/hr

Job Summary: Responsible for recruiting, training, co-ordinating and retaining volunteers

Responsible for:

  • Recruit and train new volunteers for administration, facility, and program needs

  • Schedule all volunteers

  • Maintain current volunteer application binder:

    • Ensure all new volunteer application data is entered into the Volunteer Contact Database

    • File completed forms into the Volunteer Binder

    • Archive forms of non-active volunteers

    • Ensure Criminal Record Check (CRC) applications are submitted, expiry dates are recorded and updated as necessary, and completed CRC applications are filed

    • Ensure the Volunteer name, contact information and availability is included in the daily lesson schedule(s)

  • Coordinate volunteer orientations and training sessions

  • Respond to all inquiries regarding volunteering by phone, email, in person, etc.

  • Assist in the co-ordination and preparation of special events. Co-ordinate volunteers for special events as required, i.e. fundraising, open houses, horse shows, etc.

  • Issue letters of recommendation and volunteer records as required

  • Coordinate and schedule as appropriate, work experience, practicum, and miscellaneous volunteer placements

  • Retention of volunteers and promotion of a Volunteer engagement program

  • Assist in other areas as required, from time to time

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to present a positive, enthusiastic attitude and to present VTEA as a friendly and fun place

  • Ability to think on your feet and solve scheduling issues

  • Flexibility to work from home and be on site as needed to greet and train new volunteers as well as maintain relationships with current volunteers and staff

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to deal with others in a friendly manner and to develop positive professional relationships

  • Ability to build, maintain and be a part of a team environment
